AUSTIN SYMPHONY BOOKS INCREASE DONATIONS AND SUBSCRIPTION SALES
Jim Reagan, Executive Director of the Austin Symphony Orchestra (ASO) reported an increase in season subscription sales for its 2006/2007 season of 5% and an increase of 27% for its pops subscriptions. Such increases are dramatic because of the recent trend among performing arts groups nationally to suffer subscriber loss each season.
Reagan attributes the increased sales to “a two-year Beethoven Celebration that will enable patrons to experience all nine Beethoven symphonies over a two-season span.” Equally as important is the showcasing of internationally renowned artists such as Joshua Bell, Yefim Bronfman, Evelyn Glennie, Glen Campbell and David Gates. Reagan states, “I believe our subscribers will remain loyal to the orchestra for these next two seasons in anticipation of the move in 2008 to our new home, the majestic Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts.” They will be rewarded with priority seating and other considerations in the new venue.
In related news, Reagan also announced that the recently completed annual development fund drive raised over $1.5 million dollars. This is the highest dollar amount ever raised for a season campaign in the orchestra’s 96-year history. |
