The Austin Symphony celebrates The Music of John Williams with the Sarah & Ernest Butler Pops concerts, December 30 & 31 at the Palmer Events Center. This concert will feature the best of John Williams’ film/ceremonial/concert music. These evenings of music are sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Austin with special Centennial sponsorship by Northern Trust.

One of the most prolific American composers, John Williams has become synonymous with epic, iconic films. Having written music for more than 100 feature films, plus dozens of celebration and symphonic concert works, a concert of John Williams’ music would go on for days. But Maestro Peter Bay and the Austin Symphony will present some of the best of John Williams’ musical accomplishments, such as music from the films, E.T. The Extraterrestrial, 1941, Born on the Fourth of July, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Star Wars, as well as “The Olympic Spirit,” written for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, and excerpts from the movie version of Fiddler on the Roof, for which Williams won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Film Score.

There will also be special guest appearances by members of The Star Garrison’s 501st Legion (Vader’s Fist).

Tickets for The Music of John Williams can be purchased online at, where you will also discover seating maps, price options and a wealth of concert information.
