One of the most sought-after pianists of his generation, Jon Nakamatsu was brought to global attention in June 1997 by being named Gold Medalist of the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He has subsequently appeared as soloist with orchestras and conductors the world over, as well as in recital. He appears with the Austin Symphony for a performance of George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F.

Concertgoers can enjoy “Concert Conversations” with Bob Buckalew at 7:10 p.m. in the concert hall. These free discussions provide an in-depth look at the composers and works being performed, including commentary on the social climate in which they were composed.
