ASO Swings in the New Year with Duke Ellington Orchestra

The jazzy age of Big Bands comes to Palmer Events Center when the Austin Symphony presents the legendary Duke Ellington Orchestra for the Sarah & Ernest Butler Holiday Pops at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday & Thursday, December 30th & 31st. This concert is being proudly sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Austin.

One of the most influential figures in jazz, if not in all American music, Duke Ellington is widely considered one of the 20th century’s best known American musicians, composing more than 3,000 works in his lifetime. The Ellington Orchestra keeps the spirit of The Duke alive and well in this special evening of music. The Orchestra will be joined onstage by the vocal talents of Freda Payne, known for such hits as “Band of Gold.” Hear your Austin Symphony and the Duke Ellington Orchestra with Freda Payne perform such hits as “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing,” “ Sophisticated Lady,” “Mood Indigo,” “Satin Doll” and many more!
