The Austin Symphony welcomes Oscar®, Golden Globe® and Grammy®-winning singer/songwriter Christopher Cross for the February 9th Sarah & Ernest Butler Pops concert at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. This evening of beautiful music is sponsored by ExxonMobil.
AS one of the biggest musical icons of the 1980s, Christopher Cross virtually defined adult contemporary radio with a series of smoothly sophisticated ballads. His self-titled album with the lead single, “Ride Like the Wind,” and other Top 20 hits, “Never Be the Same,” Say You’ll Be Mine,” “Arthur’s Theme (Best You Can Do)” and, of course, “Sailing,” put him on track to walk off with an unprecedented and record-setting five Grammy® awards in 1981.
Over the last three decades he has recorded eight albums. Some consider the latest one, Doctor Faith, to be Christopher’s finest work to date.
Tickets for Christopher Cross can be purchased online at http://www.austinsymphony.org, where you will also discover seating maps, price options and a wealth of concert information.
