The Austin Symphony Orchestra (Austin, TX) and the Long Center for the Performing Arts are proud to announce they will produce for a second time: The Texas Young Composers Concert. This concert will take place on Thursday, April 26 and will present the world premiere of 9 new orchestral works composed by Texas students age 18 and under and performed by your Austin Symphony Orchestra!

There was so much excitement and energy in last season’s concert, that the Austin Symphony and Long Center for the Performing Arts had to do it again.

“With so many qualified entries, we wanted to showcase more compositions,” stated ASO Executive Director Anthony Corroa. “It is very difficult for young composers to have their composition played by a professional orchestra. Many orchestras are not willing to take a chance on the new works and the young composers. It is our hope that the ASO’s Young Composers Competition and Texas Young Composers Concert will encourage young Texas composers and nurture future masterpieces.”

You don’t want to miss this fantastic performance showcasing 9 of Texas’ talented youth. Each composer’s composition is up to seven minutes in length. Before each piece, a video by the composer will inform the audience on their composition.

Bring your friends, family, co-workers, for a special evening of music composed by some of the most talented youths in Texas! Tickets for the Texas Young Composers Concert are available now at the Austin Symphony Box Office, (512) 476-6064. General Admission seats are $8.
