Building Blocks

The Building Blocks program gives pre-kindergartners through third-graders their first up-close and personal introduction to instruments of the orchestra, laying a firm foundation for music appreciation. Through informal classroom performances by one of four Austin Symphony Orchestra ensembles (strings, brass, woodwinds) or a percussionist or harpist. Building Blocks reaches more than 30,000 children throughout Central Texas every year.

The Building Blocks program is designed especially for younger listeners. It is an important first step toward arts appreciation and a cornerstone for later youth programs.
